Fire Extinguisher Safety Training

One of the most common hazards in the workplace is fire.

In fact, in the United States, over 150 fires occur on the job every day. Some of these fires are fatal; fire is the third leading cause of accidental death in the country.

Obviously, fire prevention is very important. But even the best fire prevention efforts will not completely eliminate the occurrence of fires in the workplace. And so it’s also important to know how to put out fires safely. One of the best ways to put out a fire and avoid injury and damage is through the use of a fire extinguisher.

It can be easy to take fire extinguishers for granted. Often, they’re part of the everyday scenery at work, almost blending into the background. Most people don’t take the time to really understand how they work. Not knowing how to use a fire extinguisher can be fatal. In a fire emergency, there often isn’t time to read labels and instructions. Employees need to know - before an emergency - how to operate a fire extinguisher and how to use the correct fire extinguisher for a certain kind of fire. Fire safety has many elements. However, by having a fire extinguishers program in place to provide employee training, you can help make sure that if a fire breaks out, everyone will know how to put it out safely.

The Blueprints for Safety© Fire Extinguisher Program will help you make sure that all of your employees are trained in the use of fire extinguishers and can help protect themselves and their co-workers from fire hazards.

The outcomes of your fire extinguishers program will be as follow:

  • To have employees who understand potential fire hazards in the workplace.
  • To make sure that employees understand the type of fire extinguisher needed for each class of fire.
  • To make sure that employees know how to locate and use fire extinguishers in the workplace.

By creating a fire extinguisher program for your workplace, you can help employees keep the workplace safe by avoiding potential fire hazards and by knowing what to do if a fire breaks out.
